For four months, one account has decided what Hornell talks about at breakfast. @hornyu.unfiltered passed 40,000 followers last week, more than the university's official account, more than Shika. It has received three cease-and-desist letters. Nobody has signed one of its posts.
The Ram reviewed 212 posts published since August. Of the 61 that were filmed inside a residence hall, 54 came from the Long Johnsons, and 39 of those were posted within twenty minutes of a floor meeting ending.
“Whoever runs it isn't guessing,” said a senior who has been posted twice and asked not to be named. “They know which door to stand outside.”
Previous suspects, in the order Bleat accused them: ANON, as a house; “a GOTH”; this newspaper's own editor; a bitter BRAT dropout; a TA. The Ram has ruled out four of the five. We are not saying which one is left.
What we can say: the account's posting times match the Long Tower swipe-access log on eleven nights out of twelve. Access to that log is limited to Residential Life staff and resident advisors.
Residential Life declined to comment. The account replied to our request with a single emoji of a sheep, which we are told is “a bleat.”
This is the first part of a series. If you know something, the Ram's tip line is anonymous, and unlike some accounts, we check two sources.
